Privacy policy
Last updated 26 October 2026 · Effective 26 October 2026
The short version
- You can use Wakeboo without an account. Then your alarms, missions, streak and settings stay on your phone.
- Health data, snoring audio and mission photos are read and analyzed on your phone. They're never uploaded.
- Signing in is optional: only for Together and cloud backup.
- Messages between partners are deleted after 48 hours, unless you favorite them.
- Usage data never includes your account, and in Europe and Türkiye it's sent only if you allow it.
- We don't sell your data, and there are no ads in Wakeboo.
1. Who we are
Wakeboo is an alarm app for iPhone and Android. In this policy, “Wakeboo”, “we” and “us” mean the team that makes the app and runs this website, and “you” means the person using them. We decide what happens with your data, so we're responsible for it (the “controller” under the GDPR, the “veri sorumlusu” under Türkiye's KVKK).
Questions or requests: privacy@wakeboo.com.
2. What stays on your phone
Wakeboo is built to work on your phone first. Without an account, none of the following leaves it:
- Alarms and missions: your alarms, their sounds and missions, the barcode or photo a mission looks for, and the record of each wake-up (kept for 90 days on the phone).
- Your mornings: streak, badges, morning scores, moods, points and the brief's text.
- Camera: missions like Squats, Photo match and Object hunt look at the camera picture on your phone. Frames aren't saved or sent; only the reference photo you take for Photo match is saved, on your phone.
- Health data: sleep, and with Premium your heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, breathing, workouts and time in daylight, read from Apple Health or Health Connect. Wakeboo only reads; it never writes to them.
- Snoring: recorded and analyzed on your phone. Clips are kept for 7 days on the phone, then deleted. They're not uploaded or backed up.
- Calendar: your next event is read on the phone for the morning brief.
- Read-aloud: the brief is read aloud by your phone's own voice.
Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include some of this, under Apple's or Google's terms. Snoring clips are kept out of it.
3. What we collect and why
Analytics and crash reports
To see whether alarms ring on time, what to improve and what crashed, the app uses Google's Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, with or without an account. It sends:
- which screens are opened and which parts are tapped or seen, by a fixed name of the part (like “the snooze button”), never what it shows;
- app events, like an alarm set, an alarm that rang late or a mission finished, with rough values (an hour range, not your exact time);
- your phone model, system version, app version, language, time zone and country (worked out from your IP address, which isn't stored), and whether permissions the alarm needs are on;
- crash details: what the app was doing when it crashed.
All of this is tied only to a random ID for the app on your phone. It never includes your account, even when you're signed in, or your phone's advertising ID or other device IDs. It never includes health data, recordings, photos, what you type, names, your calendar, your contacts or your location history.
Your choice: in the EU, the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye, nothing is sent until you tap “Allow” when the app asks; “Not now” deletes what was waiting. Elsewhere it's on, based on our legitimate interest in a reliable app. Anyone can turn it off in Me › General › Share usage data.
Events are kept in our analytics database in the EU (Google BigQuery) and deleted after 14 months. Only we see the reports.
Your account
You need an account only for Together and cloud backup. On iPhone you sign in with Apple or Google, on Android with Google; Wakeboo has no passwords. We get your name and e-mail address from them. With Apple you can hide your e-mail address, and then we only see a private relay address. Your profile has the name and picture you choose: one of our symbols, or a photo, made smaller and with its location and device details removed, and stored with Cloudflare. Only your partner sees your name and picture.
When you're signed in, we also keep:
- your alarms and settings, so your partner can see your next alarm and so they come back on a new phone;
- your streak, badges, points and referral code;
- a record of each of your phones: system, model, app version, whether alarm permissions are on, and its notification token, so messages and nudges reach you.
Why: to provide the features you asked for (our contract with you).
Together
When you pair with a partner, they see your name and picture, your next alarm time, whether you're up and whether you finished your mission, and your shared streak. You can turn off sharing your wake status in Together's settings.
- Voice, video and photo messages you send go to your partner through Cloudflare. They're deleted 48 hours after you send them. A message your partner favorites stays until it's unfavorited or the pairing ends (up to 20 each).
- Wake-up photos, if you choose to share one, follow the same 48-hour rule.
- Nudges are kept for 24 hours, alarm proposals for 48 hours and invite codes for 7 days.
- Reports and blocks: if you report a message, we keep the report and the message until we've looked into it.
When the pairing ends, its messages and favorites are deleted.
The morning brief
- Weather: uses your approximate location. On iPhone, the phone asks Apple Weather directly. On Android, the location goes through our server, rounded to about 11 km, to Apple Weather. We don't store it.
- Brief written by AI (Premium, only after you turn it on): today's weather, your first event's time and title, and your morning (when you got up, snoozes, your mission and how long it took, your streak, score and mood) go to Cloudflare Workers AI, which writes a few sentences. Nothing is stored there, and Cloudflare doesn't use it for training. A random number for your install counts your briefs per day; the count is deleted the next day. Health data never goes to the AI. You can turn it off in the brief's settings.
Purchases
Wakeboo Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play; we never see your card. RevenueCat tells the app whether your subscription is active. It gets the purchase details (product, price, country, dates) and a user ID: your account ID, or a random ID if you have no account.
Ads
Wakeboo doesn't show ads now. If we add them to the free version, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Support e-mails
When you write to us from the app, the e-mail includes your app version, phone, system, language and whether alarm permissions are on. A “My alarm didn't ring” report also includes that alarm's technical record, without its name, label or sound. We use what you send only to help you.
4. Permissions on your phone
Wakeboo asks for each one when you first use the feature that needs it. You can say no and keep using the rest.
| Permission | What for | Leaves your phone? |
|---|---|---|
| Alarms, notifications | Ringing on time, reminders, partner messages | No |
| Camera | Barcode, Photo match, Squats and Object hunt missions; photo messages | Only photos you send |
| Motion | Steps mission | No |
| Microphone | Snoring; voice messages | Only messages you send |
| Approximate location | Weather in the brief | To Apple Weather (see above) |
| Calendar | Your next event in the brief | Only to the AI brief, if you turn it on |
| Apple Health, Health Connect | Sleep report and tips | No |
| Photos (add only) | Saving your morning cards | No |
Data from Apple Health and Health Connect is used only to show your sleep report and tips in the app. It isn't used for ads, isn't sold and isn't shared, as Apple's HealthKit rules and Google's Health Connect policy require.
5. Who helps us
These companies process data for us, only to run Wakeboo and under contracts that keep it protected:
| Company | What they do | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase, BigQuery) | Sign-in, database, notifications, app protection (App Check), analytics, crash reports | Account, Together, device records, usage events, crashes |
| Cloudflare | Message storage (R2), our servers (Workers), the AI brief, this website | Messages, weather and brief requests, website visits |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, weather (WeatherKit), App Store, iPhone app protection | Sign-in, approximate location, purchases |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | Purchases, user ID |
| Google (Workspace) | Our e-mail | Messages you send us |
We don't sell your personal data or share it for others' marketing. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
6. Where your data is
Our database is in Google's europe-west1 region (Belgium), and messages are stored with Cloudflare in Western Europe. Analytics events are kept in the EU. Some of the services above, like crash reports and RevenueCat, are run from the United States and other countries, and Cloudflare serves requests from the data center nearest to you. Where data leaves the EU or Türkiye, we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Partner messages, wake-up photos, alarm proposals | 48 hours; favorites until removed or the pairing ends |
| Nudges | 24 hours |
| Invite codes | 7 days |
| Weather and AI brief requests | Not stored; the brief's daily count until the next day |
| Account, profile, alarms, streak, points, devices | Until you delete your account |
| Usage events (analytics) | 14 months |
| Crash reports | 90 days |
| Support e-mails | As long as needed to help you, at most 2 years |
| Snoring clips (on your phone) | 7 days |
| Wake-up records (on your phone) | 90 days |
When you delete your account, it's gone from the app right away and everything tied to it is deleted from our servers within 30 days, including backups; your alarms and mornings stay on your phone until you reset it. If you signed in with Google, Wakeboo also stays in your Google Account's list of connected apps: remove it at myaccount.google.com/connections. Records the law requires us to keep, like tax records for purchases, are kept only as long as it requires. See Delete account.
8. Your choices and rights
- In the app: turn usage data (Me › General › Share usage data), the AI brief and each permission on or off; delete messages, snoring nights and clips. In Me › Account: ask for a copy of your data (Download my data; we e-mail it to you within 30 days), sign out, delete your account (Delete account and data), or erase everything on the phone (Reset all data).
- Without an account: everything is on your phone. Reset all data in Me › Account, or deleting the app, removes it.
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and the KVKK, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or move your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw a consent you gave (this doesn't affect what we did before). Write to privacy@wakeboo.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Türkiye that's the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
9. Children
Wakeboo isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
Data travels encrypted. Our servers answer only the real Wakeboo app (Firebase App Check, with Apple's App Attest and Google's Play Integrity). Messages are in private storage and open through links that expire after 15 minutes. Only you and your partner can read your pairing's data.
11. This website
wakeboo.com uses no cookies and no ad trackers. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies: it sees the page, the referring site, your browser and your country, and doesn't store your IP address. If you pick Dark or Light at the bottom of the page, the choice is kept in your browser only. Cloudflare delivers the site and briefly processes your IP address to do so and to block attacks.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll tell you in the app before they apply.
